Trying to get traffic to your website can be a daunting task. There are thousands of ways to generate traffic, some are free and some can cost a great deal of money. Here are 9 low cost ways to generate some traffic to your site.
Blog and Website owners are always looking for effective ways to drive quality traffic to their sites. For some, this can be a hair pulling effort. For others, it seems no matter what they try, traffic comes rolling in.
Here are 9 Low Cost Ways to Drive Traffic To Your Site
Pay-Per-Click Programs - You should try Adwords and other Pay-Per-Click programs such as Yahoo Publisher Network and Microsoft AdCenter, only if you have a good understanding of how PPC programs work. Newbies should not dive into PPC unless you have a large budget. A better way to use Adwords would be to use the site targeted feature of Adwords and choose sites that are relevant to yours. Site targeted Adwords are charged on a CPM (cost per thousand impressions) basis rather than a per-click basis.
Banner Advertising - In my blog post title “15 Adsense Alternatives”, I feature 15 programs to replace Adsense. You can use many of these same programs, such as AdBrite, to advertise on. Speaking of AdBrite, I’ve seen them on some very specific sites where Adsense was not used. This could be for a variety of reasons, but it’s worth checking into sites where you’d like to advertise and see which program they are using to monetize their site. Read the rest of this entry »

Alexa rank. Some people swear by their Alexa rank while others swear at it. The argument over whether or not Alexa rankings are important won’t be solved here. The simple fact is that your Alexa rank may be very important to you depending upon which type of website you have.
I decided to write about how to increase your Alexa rank and why it’s important for two reasons. #1 is to enter Courtney Tuttle’s “Internet Marketers United Group Writing Project” and the other is to try and clear up the misconception that the Alexa Rank is not important.
What Is The Alexa Rank?
Alexa is a website that provides traffic information on other websites.
The Alexa Rank comes when Alexa computes the traffic numbers and ranks websites in terms of popularity as determined by the number of visitors to that site that have the Alexa Toolbar installed.
Why Is The Alexa Rank Important?
The Alexa Rank is important to only a small number of web users. Advertisers and Webmasters use the Alexa rank to help them determine (right or wrong) the worth of your site and links from your site. Read the rest of this entry »
Wordpress is an unbelievably powerful tool for the online business owner. If you already have a site, all you need to do is add a Wordpress blog to a directory on your domain.
For instance, if your site is at www.yoursite.com, you would simply install Wordpress into a directory like /blog/. The Wordpress blog will then be found at www.yoursite.com/blog/. You can use any directory name you want; ‘news’ and ‘updates’ are two other good choices.
Most hosts come with a cpanel account with fantistico. You can actually install Wordpress through fantistico with just a couple of clicks. It takes less than 5 minutes. The Wordpress backend is simple to navigate, so once you have it set up, it won’t take you long at all to become familiar with it. You’ll be able to make your first post within minutes. Just as a website won’t do you any good with visitors, a blog won’t do you any good without readers. However, getting blog readers is often easier than getting website visitors. There are several ways to go about this.
First, make sure that each time you make a blog entry, you ping the blog. You can do this by going to Ping-O-Matic. Also, make sure that your blog has RSS capabilities. This will allow readers to load your blog in their newsreader, and it will also allow them to syndicate what you write on their own websites, which gives you more exposure.
Read and contribute to other blogs! This is vital if you want to succeed with blogging. Blogging itself is a community, no matter what the topic is. For instance, if you have a blog about cats, you should visit other people’s cat blogs. Read the posts, and when you can, add a comment that is relevant to the post, and link to one of your blog posts that is also relevant. Avoid blog spamming! Read the rest of this entry »
