add a person to a photo

May 12th, 2008 by early

To add a flower girl to a wedding group using Adobe Photoshop Elements, do this:

  1. Start on the flower girl image. Select around her using a selection tool such as the Magnetic Lasso or something similar. Set a small feather using Select, Feather, and set it to 3, for example.
  2. Choose Edit, Copy, switch to your wedding photo, and choose Edit, Paste. If you can’t see the Layers palette, choose Window, Layers to view it. You’ll see the flower girl on a new layer.
  3. Click the flower girl layer, click the Move tool, and you can now move her into position and size her to suit the photo.
  4. Then you’ll need to apply finishing touches, such as adjusting the color on her layer to blend her, and anything else that requires fixing.

Steps for Photoshop are pretty much the same, except it is Select, Modify, Feather to add the feather.

You might be surprised that folks won’t even realize that you’ve done the work and they’ll think it actually is a photo.

t’s easy to remove distracting elements from digital photos using the Clone Stamp tool in Adobe Photoshop Elements. To use the Clone tool, first select it and then Alt + Click on an area of the image to use as the source–think of this as the paint you’ll use.

Now click and paint over the area to fix. As you paint, you should see the mouse as a box or circle indicating the area you are painting. If you have a small brush, this will be so small it might be difficult to see. Use the right bracket ] key to make the brush larger and the left bracket key [ to make it smaller. avoid fuzzy photos

If you get fuzzy pictures when zooming in from a distance with your digital camera, the fuzziness is probably caused by one of two things:

  • One is that you’re moving the camera when taking the shot. Any movement is exaggerated when you’re zoomed in, so try using a tripod or stand very still, take a deep breath, hold it, take the photo and then breathe out. Read the rest of this entry »
