Airbrush away photo mistakes
May 12, 2008
t’s easy to remove distracting elements from digital photos using the Clone Stamp tool in Adobe Photoshop Elements. To use the Clone tool, first select it and then Alt + Click on an area of the image to use as the source–think of this as the paint you’ll use.
Now click and paint over the area to fix. As you paint, you should see the mouse as a box or circle indicating the area you are painting. If you have a small brush, this will be so small it might be difficult to see. Use the right bracket ] key to make the brush larger and the left bracket key [ to make it smaller.
When painting, using small clicks often works better than painting with long strokes. Also, make sure you choose a brush shape that has a soft (greyish) edge rather than being a solid black. This type of brush blends better.
To make the pointer more visible when using the Clone tool, try zooming in close on the area you’re working on. The pointer should be bigger and easier to see.
