More About SEO SERPs

SERPS is an anagram used by people those interested in and practisers of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). SERPs are the pages displayed by a search engine after you have typed in a term to search for and clicked search, such as the well known results pages of Google and Yahoo. When people are talking about a results page they are normally referring to Google, as it is the most used search engine.

SERPs are important to those involved in SEO because it tells us who ranks highest for what terms, what adverts are running (displayed on the right) and allows us to view competitors or opportunities within a search term.

If we analyse a SERP for Google; in the upper right is how many resulting pages there are for the search term entered. This is a good way for someone looking to start a site to see how much competition they will be up against. They can then other details about the sites listed on the front page for factors such as PageRank, number of back links etc. On the right hand site is a list of paid adverts, where people are paying for every click their advert receives while it is in the right, using Googles Adwords campaign. In the main section shows the relevant listings, these are decided by a number of factors such as content and how much authority these sites are given, shown by relevant authority sites linking to them. The authority of a site is determined mainly by its the PageRank but this goes outside the scope of this article.

Getting to the front page of the SERPsĀ  is every Search Engine Optimizers goal, and getting to number one in them the Holy Grail. This is why the SERPs are so significant to SEOs, forgive the amount of anagrams used but they save a us of time, so go forth, confident in your use of the SERPS anagram. Please note I have used the term SEO SERPs simply because there are other anagrams out there not related to SEO, if you are talking about SEO just use SERP
