What’s all the hype about page rank? Is it really that important? A lot of webmasters seem to think so. Will you get more traffic to your website if you have a high page rank? Not necessarily so…
Let’s face it…to have a successful website, you need targeted traffic and lots of it. Do you need a high page rank to get that traffic?
The answer to that question is a simple “no”…I have seen many sites with a page rank as low as (0) crawl up high on the search engines. It seems that page rank is no longer that important to a website’s success.
What IS important is how a site ranks on the search engines. Good search engine rankings are what all webmasters should strive for. You will need to build a website with good, useful content and keep adding that content…the search engines love it! The more content you add, the better the search engines will find you.

Dont miss it Are you looking to improve your website rank and as such get more traffic? If you can get your website onto the first page of Google for particular keywords you could potentially make a lot of money. There is so much competition though for the top spots.
The first thing to do is target non competitive keywords. A lot of simple one word keywords are simply saturated in the market. If you want to get a good page rank and get to the top of the search engine page results then it is best to target several words together or long tailed keywords.
Do some research using the Google keyword tool. Once you have found some non competitive keywords then you need to start building your backlinks. The best way to do this for free is one by one. Your website may also be black listed by search for practicing Black Hat SEO (Search Engine Optimization) such as making text invisible by making the font color same as background. A blogger complained his blog’s PageRank has been downgraded to unranked. There can be various reasons why a website’s PageRank may be downgraded. One of them is what they call the “Google Dance”. Google changes its algorithm and some websites may get their PageRank increased, some downgraded, some downgraded very badly. I am not aware of anything we can do about this, unless you know the inner workings of Google search engines which they will NEVER reveal.

1. Select Your Keywords and Keyword Phrases
Choose the keywords and keyword phrases you want your blog post to rank high for on the Google search engine results page. For example, I want my blog post to rank high for the term, “blog ranked high on Google.” Currently there are approximately 286,000 pages using this term so I’ll have to do everything in my power to compete with these web pages to get my blog post on the first page of the Google results page for that term.
My keyword phrase also includes other keyword phrases like, “ranked high on Google” with about 310,000 competing pages and “high on Google” with over 71 million competing pages. Getting to the first page for these terms would be a bonus.
2. Use Your Keywords in Your Blog Title
Google pays very close attention to the words and phrases you use in your blog title. Notice how I used the term, “blog ranked high on Google” in the title of this article.
